Andy has been hard at work in the laundry room. The newest addition is this nifty laundry cart, plans courtesy of ana-white.com:
Now sorting laundry is a breeze and when I'm ready to wash I just pull the basket out I need or roll the whole thing over to the washing machine! It is so much easier than having piles to maneuver around on the floor. It will eventually be sanded when it warms up outside and painted a nice, bright blue close to the one in the curtain fabric at the bottom of this post.
He also replaced the old, tall cabinet that wasn't quite deep enough and way taller than I needed (finding anything required climbing on top of the washer) with this handy cabinet.
I actually remember to use the dryer sheets because I can see them! And, as an added bonus (and a cleaner look over time) he painted the inside green!
Everything has a place in the cabinet now!
Just behind the basket cart is a laundry folding station custom made by my in-house handyman:
The built-in ironing board is nestled above, there is more storage for baskets below (for transporting the clean, folded laundry of course) and there is also a cabinet beneath handy for my toolbag and other miscellaneous items that don't need to be out in the open, but are still easily accessible.
Next I will probably use some of the curtain fabric to cover this window above the washer and dryer. It is kind of creepy at night looking out there and curtains are so much cuter than blinds! :)
Watch this space:
This is the corner where the sink used to be on the other side of the hot water heater closet. It will be home to another cabinet with deep lower drawers on the right and an open space on the left to hide the litter box (behind curtains of course!). There will be another cabinet identical to the one above the washer and dryer on the right side above the coutertop.
