Clean Up

Andy has had a crew out most of the week with him tearing down and cleaning up two storage buildings. It looks soooo much better out there now. Only two more to go!

It is much, much more open now out back. Some of the metal from the potting shed will be reused for the roof of the small storage barn being built in the side yard.

This empty pad behind the wood shop was once under an old, rusted out storage shed (the kind that comes in a box), which housed the tiller and bicycles. A larger storage barn will be built here for storage.

Up next (and hopefully within the next year, we'll see) these will go:

The barn doesn't even look this good now. The view is MUCH worse from the neighbor's driveway... it is also home to all sorts of scary critters.

The wood shop has just seen too many termites. This is actually an old picture; the right lean-to has been cleared out for Mustang parking, and there is grass growing in that dirt patch (finally!). Also, with all the wind and rain over the last month, the front panel on that door fell off and blew around the yard; it is now brown with cardboard innards exposed. All the more reason it needs to come down!

Green Thumbs; Garden Update

The garden has been doing really well despite the recent heat, which is really good. So far we have picked a few tomatoes, LOTS of lettuce, some cucumbers, squash, and zucchini. The watermelon are coming on really well now, and the corn is getting tall.

Buttercrunch. I love the way it looks! It will probably line my front flower bed next year for both convenience and decor...

Switch it, Change it...

We bought our washer and dryer used just before we got married. They were four years old then. We thought the washer was going to kick the bucket first, but it was the dryer; it worked, but it didn't dry... or stop running. Luckily the old set that came with the house was still at Andy's parents', so we switched them up.

It is very old, but works perfectly. As big as the door is, the opening is just a small circle! My only complaint is that you can't turn the buzzer off. Notice the fancy wood grain. :) It should hold out till the end of the year. We were saving up for living room furniture, but our "furniture fund" has since been repurposed. Andy set the old dryer out in the driveway and it was gone within 24 hours. Gotta love free carry off!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

We finally got a garden planted Mother's Day; it had flooded and flooded and flooded before that. Now it is dry as a bone. This year is our first year for a garden, and we planted corn, three kinds of lettuces, cucumbers, squash, watermelon, bell peppers, garlic, tomatoes, and onions. If nothing else we will have good salsa!

Everything has grown a lot since I took these, but this was the first chance I had to post pictures. I picked lettuce for the first time tonight!
