If you are considering moving to the country or to a slightly older house I would advise investing in a lot of bait boards! After finding an uninvited (and pregnant) eight legged guest in the cabinet of one bathroom and a brown recluse lurking behind the trash can in the other last Saturday we decided to take action. We have one in each bath, one behind the china cabinet, one by the carport door (their front door apparently), and one behind the kitchen trash can. I folded them to avoid trapping a cat instead of creepy crawlies if they are out in the open.
This was after just 11 hours.
All 3 were brown recluses! This was by the back door, so we also invested in one of these on the bottom of the door:
The spider population has decreased significantly in the last week! Ick, ick ick!
